This is the labour to fit an external battery pack to your dash cam. A dedicated battery powers parking mode without drawing from the battery that starts your car — so your camera keeps recording for a day or more while you're parked, and your vehicle always starts.
What it costs and how long it takes
-
Flat rate for the labour, regardless of which battery you're fitting
-
One to one and a half hours for most vehicles
-
Same day — by appointment, so your vehicle goes straight onto a bay
- Backed by our lifetime installation warranty
What's included
- Mounting the battery pack securely, out of sight
- Connecting it between your hardwire kit and your camera
- Routing and concealing every cable behind trim
- Setting up the pack and confirming parking mode works before you leave
Where it goes matters more than most people expect
A battery pack is a physical object that has to live somewhere in your vehicle for years. Under a seat, in a trunk cubby, behind a kick panel — the right spot is out of sight, secure enough that it can't shift while you drive, and away from the hottest parts of the cabin. Heat shortens the life of any lithium pack, and a location that's fine in a sedan can be a poor choice in a hatchback.
That judgement is most of what you're paying for. Connecting the pack takes minutes; choosing where it lives and running the wiring so nothing is visible is the rest.
Save when you buy the battery with the install
Add installation to an LDS P7D or P9D and the battery costs less. Our labour rate never changes — the saving comes off the hardware. Browse dash cam batteries to see installed pricing on every pack we carry.
Bringing your own battery?
Please contact us before you book. Send us the make and model, and we'll confirm whether we can fit it and what it will cost.
Booking
Add this to your order and we'll contact you after checkout to arrange a time. You don't need to call ahead. If you'd rather book first, use our booking page to request a time at our Markham shop or at your home or work in the GTA.
One thing worth knowing
Every vehicle is different. Depending on make, model and year, some installations need additional parts — relays, diodes or resistors — which are charged separately if required. We'll always tell you before doing the work, not after.
