Car alarm sirens

The siren is the part that does the work. Sensors decide something is wrong, but the siren is what makes the thief leave and what makes anyone nearby look over. It's also the part most likely to need replacing, because it lives in the engine bay through salt, heat and damp.

Replacing a failed siren

If your alarm arms and disarms normally but no longer makes noise, the siren is the usual culprit rather than the system. They're inexpensive and any of these will work with most aftermarket alarms.

Adding a second siren

Worth doing, and cheap. The main siren under the hood is what alerts people outside the vehicle. A small piezo siren mounted inside the cabin does a different job: it makes staying in the car genuinely unpleasant, which shortens how long a thief is willing to work.

Battery backup

Disconnecting the battery is the standard way to silence an alarm. A backup siren carries its own power source and keeps sounding regardless, which turns a quick job into one nobody wants to be seen doing.

Multi-tone matters

A siren that cycles through different tones is much harder to tune out than one continuous note. Most of ours are six-tone for exactly that reason.
