Best protection
A hidden digital immobilizer. The engine won't start until you enter your PIN on the factory buttons, or your tag or phone is in the car. Vehicles equipped with CAN FD need the IGLA FD Dual CAN version, and it's only for those vehicles.

Often named in TD letters
Wireless tags hidden through the vehicle, plus window etching that tells thieves it's tagged. If it's stolen, TAG's recovery team tracks it down and works with police. Some TD letters ask for TAG by name.

Alarm and starter kill
A one-way car alarm with two remotes and a starter kill. It deters and alerts, but it doesn't have the hidden PIN protection of IGLA, so it's the lighter option on TD's list.

An immobilizer stops the vehicle being driven away. TAG helps find it if it's taken anyway, for example on a tow truck. Owners of the most stolen models often install both, and we can do them in the same visit.

TD wants proof that an approved system was professionally installed. You leave with your receipt and a certificate of installation, ready to forward to TD or your broker.
StarLine meets and exceeds Canadian insurer criteria and is recognized by CAA and Co-operators, but TD hasn't added it to its approved list yet. If your letter is from TD, choose from the three systems above.
Brent P. had IGLA in his 2023 Ram TRX. Thieves drilled the driver's window, opened the door and got in, then tried to program a key. IGLA wouldn't let the engine start, and they gave up and left. Hotel security cameras caught the whole thing.

TD flags vehicle models that are stolen often. If yours is one of them, TD asks you to install an approved anti-theft system, or your premium goes up at renewal. The letter explains what TD wants to see.

If your letter names TAG, start there. Otherwise, IGLA gives you the stronger protection, because it stops the vehicle being driven away rather than helping find it afterwards. If your vehicle is a common target, doing both covers you either way.
IGLA does. A relay box or a newly programmed key gets the vehicle to believe the key is present, but IGLA waits for its own PIN, tag or phone before the engine will run. TAG doesn't stop the theft; it helps get the vehicle back afterwards.
IGLA takes about four hours for most vehicles and TAG about an hour, done the same day by appointment at our Markham shop. We can install both in one visit. Wait in our waiting area with Wi-Fi, or drop it off.
TAG is completely wireless, so nothing is connected to your vehicle's wiring. IGLA connects to your vehicle's wiring: connections are soldered and sealed, wiring follows the factory loom, and we document what was added and where. A manufacturer generally can't void your whole warranty over an aftermarket accessory; the usual position is that they'd need to show it caused the specific failure. If you're concerned, tell us before you book and we'll walk through what we'd do on your vehicle.
