3 Channel Dash Cameras

Three-camera systems — road, cabin and rear

A third camera pointed at the cabin is what separates these from a normal front-and-rear setup. If you drive rideshare or delivery, that camera is the whole reason to buy: it settles disputes about what was said, what was damaged, and who did what — and it protects you when the account of events isn't yours.

Everything else still applies. These record the road ahead and behind exactly like a two-channel system. You're not trading away coverage to get the interior view; you're adding to it.

Every price here is the price to actually use the camera. Where a hardwire kit or memory card isn't in the box, we show what it costs — and on a three-camera system the card matters more, because three streams fill a card roughly half again as fast as two.

What is the third camera for?

On most of these it watches the cabin. On the Wolfbox pair it watches your bumper. Either way you still get the road ahead and behind — the third camera is what you're adding, not what you're trading for.

Rideshare

Vantrue N4 Pro S

  • Most of your trips are after dark
  • You want three cameras at the lowest price

Two more in the grid below. The Viofo A329S 3CH records 4K at 60fps — the sharpest front footage we sell, and the only one that captures plates cleanly at highway speed. And the two Wolfbox G900 TriPro mirror systems point their third camera at your bumper rather than the cabin, so you can see exactly where your front end is when parking nose-in. If kerbs are your problem rather than passengers, those are the ones.

FAQ - Common Questions

Will the interior camera record in the dark?

Yes — and it's the spec that matters most if you're carrying passengers. Every cabin camera here uses infrared illumination: four IR LEDs on the Vantrue N4 Pro S and N5S, and infrared on the Viofo models too. That means faces rather than silhouettes in an unlit vehicle at night, which is when most rideshare trips happen. Infrared footage is monochrome, but it's identifiable, and identifiable is the whole point.

Do I need to tell passengers they're being recorded?

Generally yes, and rideshare platforms usually require it. In Canada you're normally permitted to record a conversation you're part of, and it's your vehicle — but the platforms set their own disclosure rules, and provinces differ. Most drivers put a small notice on a rear window. Check your platform's current policy and your provincial rules rather than taking a website's word for it, including ours.

Does Uber or Lyft allow dash cameras?

Both permit them. The requirements are about disclosure and placement rather than permission, and they vary by region. Worth reading your platform's policy before your first trip with it fitted.

Does it record audio?

Yes, and it can be turned off on every system here. For rideshare, audio is often the most valuable evidence you have — what was said usually matters more than what was seen, and a dispute about conduct is settled by the recording rather than by two accounts.

Where does the interior camera mount?

On the same body as the front camera on most of these, pointed back into the cabin from high on the windscreen. Aim matters more than people expect: badly set, it captures the headliner or the back of a headrest instead of the people in the vehicle. We set it to cover both front seats and as much of the rear bench as the lens allows.

How long does the installation take?

Two hours for most vehicles with all three cameras mounted inside, and you'll have it back the same day. If your rear camera mounts on the outside of the vehicle, it takes longer — sealing the cable entry properly is the part that can't be rushed. We book by appointment so your vehicle goes straight onto a bay.

Why do the Wolfbox models cost more to install?

Because their third camera mounts outside. A camera inside the glass is protected from everything; one on your bumper has to survive road salt, pressure washing, freeze-thaw and standing water for years. That means a sealed cable entry through the body, a mount that holds through vibration, and a longer run. Done badly, water tracks down the cable into the vehicle — a far more expensive problem than the camera. The Bumper version has two exterior cameras; on the Cabin version, mounting the rear outside as a reversing camera adds $50.

Do I need a bigger memory card than a two-camera system?

Yes. Three streams fill a card roughly half again as fast as two, so a card that gave you six hours of loop on a 2-channel system gives you about four here. 128GB is a sensible minimum, 256GB if you want more than a day before it overwrites. Use a high-endurance card built for continuous recording — a standard card will fail within months.

Is 4K actually worth it over 1080p?

For reading plates, yes. 1080p reliably shows you what happened; 4K is what lets you read the plate of a car that didn't stop. If your goal is evidence for a claim where both parties exchange details, 1080p is enough. If your goal is identifying someone who drove off, spend the difference.

Does frame rate matter, or just resolution?

More than most people realise, and almost nobody mentions it. A plate on an oncoming car at highway speed crosses the frame fast. At 30fps you often get two motion-blurred frames; at 60fps you get four, and one is usually sharp. The Viofo A329S 3CH is the only camera here recording 4K at 60fps.

Will it record while I'm parked?

Every system here supports parking mode, but it needs power. Where a hardwire kit isn't in the box we show its cost on the card, so the price you see is the price to actually use it. For longer coverage — and for anyone leaving a vehicle overnight regularly — a dedicated battery pack keeps your starter battery out of it entirely.

Will it survive a Canadian summer or winter?

Every camera we sell uses a supercapacitor rather than a lithium battery, and that's deliberate. A car parked in July can reach 60°C inside, and lithium cells swell and fail under that heat — it's the most common reason cheap dash cams don't see a third summer. Supercapacitors handle the range a vehicle actually sees, from a −30°C morning to a baking parking lot.

Can I install it myself?

Plenty of customers do. The front and cabin cameras usually share one body, so the hard part is the rear cable — you're removing trim along most of the vehicle's length and threading through the tailgate boot. Budget an afternoon and be comfortable removing interior panels without breaking clips. If your system has an exterior camera, that's a different job again, and one we'd suggest leaving to us.
