Which antenna do you have?

The part number is printed on the antenna case, on the small module stuck to the top of your windscreen. That's the fastest way to be certain — everything else is guesswork.

If you can't reach it or the label's gone, work backwards from your key fob instead. Every fob on our site lists the antennas it pairs with, so find yours and the answer's on that page.

One-way or two-way? A two-way antenna reports back to the remote, so the fob can confirm the vehicle actually started. One-way only receives. They aren't interchangeable — a two-way fob needs a two-way antenna, and fitting the wrong one costs you the confirmation you paid for.

Many antennas don't include a cable

Every Compustar antenna is sold on its own (no antenna cable included). The two iDatastart antennas and both Fortin kits include an antenna cable.

Count the pins on your existing cable at each end before ordering — 4-to-4, 4-to-6 or 6-to-6. If you're replacing a failed antenna rather than fitting a whole system, you almost certainly need one.

Will my key fobs still work if I replace the antenna?

Yes, provided you fit the same one. The fob pairs to the system, not to the antenna — replacing a failed antenna doesn't affect your remotes. Each antenna page lists exactly which fobs work with it.

How do I know which antenna I have?

The part number is on the case, on the module at the top of your windscreen. If you can't get to it, look up your key fob instead — its page lists the compatible antennas.

Does the antenna come with a cable?

Usually not. Every Compustar antenna is sold without one; the iDatastart and Fortin kits include theirs. Check before ordering.

Can I fit it myself?

It's not difficult, but it means removing the A-pillar trim to route the cable. Position matters more than people expect — too close to the metal roof line or behind metallic tint and you lose range. We fit these in Markham if you'd rather not.

My antenna is discontinued. Now what?

Depends on the system. Sometimes a different antenna and a matching fob will work; sometimes it's a controller decision. Call us with the part number and we'll tell you honestly.
