Blind Spot Detection Kits

What is a blind spot detection kit?

A blind spot detection system watches the lanes beside and behind you and warns you when something's there — usually with an LED in the A-pillar or on the mirror, plus a tone if you signal toward an occupied lane. It's the single most useful driver assistance feature to add to a vehicle that didn't come with it, and it retrofits to almost anything.

We've been installing them in Markham since 2003. Buy the kit and fit it yourself, or have our technicians do it — the price you see includes everything either way, and our installation work is backed by a lifetime warranty.

Ultrasonic or Radar?

The sensor technology matters more than the brand. Here's the short version, so you're not paying for coverage you don't need — or saving money you'll regret in a snowstorm.

FAQ - Common Questions

Ultrasonic or radar — does it really matter?

It matters most in bad weather and at speed. Ultrasonic sensors use sound waves and have a shorter effective range; heavy rain, snow, slush and road film all degrade them. Radar passes through a plastic bumper and isn't bothered by weather or darkness, and it detects vehicles further back — which is what you need when someone's closing on you at highway speed. If you drive Canadian winters or spend real time on the 401, radar is worth the difference.

How long does the installation take?

Three to four hours on average, and you'll have the vehicle back the same day. Most of that is careful disassembly and reassembly of the rear bumper cover and running the wiring properly through the cabin so nothing is visible when we're done. We book by appointment, so there's no waiting around for a bay to open up.

What warranty do you get?

Our installation work carries a lifetime warranty. If anything we did ever needs attention — a connection, a mount, the wiring — bring the vehicle back and we'll make it right, no time limit. The hardware itself is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, which varies by brand; you'll find the terms on each product page.

Does installing this void my vehicle warranty?

No. In Canada, a manufacturer can't void your warranty simply because you fitted aftermarket equipment — they'd have to show the part actually caused the failure. Our installations are done to factory wiring standards, and we're happy to document the work if you ever need it.

What's in the box — do I need anything else?

Everything for a standard installation is included. All five kits ship complete with sensors, control module, indicators and wiring. Nothing else to buy, whether we install it or you do.

Will this work on my vehicle?

Yes, in almost every case. These are universal systems: the sensors mount in or behind the rear bumper and the warning indicators mount wherever you can see them. They don't rely on your vehicle's factory electronics, so age and make aren't limiting factors. The exceptions are rare — vehicles with metal rear bumpers can complicate radar placement, and some fibreglass or heavily reinforced bumpers need a workaround. If you're unsure, call us with your year, make and model.

Can I install it myself?

Plenty of customers do. It's a real job — you'll be removing the rear bumper cover, drilling or mounting sensors, and running wiring into the cabin — so budget a few hours and be comfortable with basic 12V work. Every kit ships with instructions, and our support team can help by phone if you get stuck.

Will it drain my battery?

No. These systems draw power only when the vehicle is running and shut down with the ignition. A correctly installed system adds no measurable parasitic draw.
