StarLine in Canada, From the People Who Import It

StarLine builds CAN bus immobilizers that stop a vehicle being driven away even by someone holding a cloned or relayed key. The engine will not start unless the system recognizes an authorized driver.

We are StarLine's Canadian distributor. That means we hold stock here, we know the firmware, and when something needs escalating we are talking to the manufacturer rather than filing a ticket. Every system we fit at our Markham shop carries a lifetime installation warranty.

E9 or S9?

FAQ - Common Questions

Should I get the E9 or the S9?

Start with what you want to happen if the car is targeted. The E9 stops it being driven away — that is the whole job, and for most people it is enough. The S9 does the same thing and adds GPS tracking with a smartphone app, so you can also see where the vehicle is and get alerts. If the car is parked somewhere you cannot see it, or it is the kind of vehicle that gets moved to a container, the tracking earns its money. If it lives in your driveway, it probably does not.

Will my insurer give me a discount for a StarLine?

StarLine meets and exceeds Canadian insurer criteria and is recognized by CAA and Co-operators. TD Insurance has not added it to their approved list yet — if you are with TD, the IGLA carries their approval today. Check with your broker either way; we issue a certificate of installation with every fit.

What happens when the S9's three-year data plan runs out?

Renew through us at $249.99 for another three years — about $7 a month for the SIM and data. Let it lapse and the immobilizer keeps working normally; you only lose GPS tracking and app control, and renewing brings them straight back.

What if I lose my Bluetooth tag?

You are not locked out. The systems are set up with a PIN as a backup so you can always start your own car, and we can supply and pair a replacement BT-TAG. Most people run two tags from the start for exactly this reason.

Can StarLine be fitted to a car that already has a remote starter?

Yes, and that combination is common. It depends on which remote starter you have and how it was installed, so tell us what is already in the vehicle when you book and we will confirm before you come in.
