The StarLine S9 is a hidden digital immobilizer. It blocks the engine through your vehicle's own CAN wiring and analogue circuits, so the vehicle won't start or drive away until it recognizes you: your PIN on the factory buttons, your Bluetooth tag, or your phone. A cloned or relayed key isn't enough on its own.
We bring StarLine into Canada and install the S9 at our Markham shop. This listing includes the installation.
We install a SIM card with a 3-year data plan. You can see where the vehicle is and arm, disarm and check on it from your phone, from anywhere with cell coverage. When the three years are up you can renew the plan through us. If you don't, the immobilizer keeps working normally; you only lose GPS tracking and app control.
The same immobilizer and the same protection, for less. There's no SIM and no data plan, so there's no GPS tracking and no app control from a distance. You disarm with your PIN, your Bluetooth tag, or your phone when you're beside the vehicle.
Without the SIM, the S9 stops the vehicle being driven away, and for a lot of people that's enough. With the SIM, you can also see where it is. If the vehicle is parked where you can't see it, or it's the kind that gets moved to a container, tracking earns its money. If it lives in your driveway, it probably doesn't.
A siren and theft alerts can be added as an upgrade. Ask us when you book.
CAA and Co-operators recognize StarLine. TD Insurance hasn't added it to its approved list yet; if you're with TD, IGLA is recognized by TD today. Check with your broker before you book, and see what each insurer accepts.
