Immobilizer bypass modules and interfaces
Almost every vehicle built since the late 1990s has an immobilizer: the engine will not run unless the car recognises a chip in your key. A remote starter has no key, so on its own it cannot start the engine. A bypass module is what solves that. It communicates with the vehicle's immobilizer during a remote start, lets the engine run, and hands control straight back the moment you put your key in and drive away. It does not disable your factory security.
Do you need one?
If you're buying a plug and play remote starter kit from us, the bypass function is usually already built into the module, so you don't need anything from this page. Bypass modules are bought separately when you're pairing an aftermarket remote starter or alarm with a vehicle whose immobilizer it can't talk to on its own, which is typically a professional or experienced DIY install.

Programming tools. Most bypass modules ship blank and have to be flashed with firmware for your specific vehicle. Fortin modules use a FLASHLINK, iDatalink and Compustar modules use an ADS-USB, and Directed modules use an XKLOADER or DLOADER. If a product elsewhere on our site is flagged as needing DECRYPTOR or KLON programming, the tool that completes that job is here. We pre-program most modules before they ship, so you only need a tool if you plan to flash them yourself. See all programming tools.
Antenna rings and transponder boxes. Some bypass methods read the chip in a spare key rather than talking to the vehicle digitally. That method needs an antenna ring around the ignition barrel and a box to hold the key, and those parts are listed here too.
