Car alarm sensors

A siren is only as good as what tells it to sound. Sensors are what detect the problem, and matching the right sensor to the way your vehicle gets parked is what separates an alarm that works from one your neighbours have learned to ignore.

Shock sensors

The standard sensor, detecting impacts to the body and glass. Most have two levels: a light knock gives a warning chirp, a real strike sets off the full alarm. Sensitivity is adjustable, and it matters. Too high and passing traffic sets it off; too low and it never fires when it should.

Tilt sensors

These detect the vehicle changing angle, which is what happens when it's jacked up for its wheels or winched onto a flatbed. Both are silent thefts a shock sensor often misses entirely. If you park on a street where wheels and catalytic converters disappear, this is the sensor that matters. See our tilt sensors.

Glass break sensors

Tuned to the specific frequency of breaking glass, so they fire on a smashed window without triggering on a door slam.

Proximity and field sensors

These react to someone reaching into an open vehicle, which is useful for convertibles and open-topped trucks where there's no glass to break.

Multi-function sensors

Several of ours combine shock, tilt, glass break and movement in one module. Fewer parts to mount and wire behind an already-full dash.
