Remote Starters - FAQ
DECRYPTOR - What is this?
Decryptor is a two stage programming process used by Fortin, and requires the user to have the Fortin FLASHLINK programming tool (not included with the remote starter) to complete the remote starter installation.
KLON - What is this?
KLON is a two stage programming process used by iDatastart and Compustar, and requires the user to have the iDatalink ADS-USB programming tool (not included with the remote starter) to complete the remote starter installation.
Plug and Play - What is this?
Plug and play means that the remote starter includes a plug and play wire harness to make the installation easier. However, in most vehicles, even though the solution is plug and play, wire splicing of some kind may be required. If your solution states NOT Plug and Play - this means the solution must be connected to the vehicle via wire splicing.
3xLock Start - What is this?
3xLock Start means you can control (activate) the remote starter using the factory key fob, meaning you do not need to carry an additional key fob around if you do not want to. The range of the OEM key fob though, is almost always 150 - 500 feet maximum, so if you need more range than this, you must add an aftermarket key fob kit or smartphone app control.
❗KEY FOB KIT Required - 3xLock Start NOT Supported - What is this?
This means your vehicle and the remote start solution for your vehicle, do not support the use of the OEM key fob to control the remote starter, and that you must add an aftermarket key fob kit.
