This is the labour to install an anti-theft immobilizer — a hidden system that stops your vehicle from starting or driving away until it's disarmed with your code, tag or phone, even if a thief has cloned or relayed your key.
What it costs and how long it takes
-
Flat rate for the labour
-
Four hours for most vehicles
-
Same day — by appointment, so your vehicle goes straight onto a bay
- Backed by our lifetime installation warranty
What's included
- Connecting all of the immobilizer's circuits to your vehicle
- Mounting the module and its connections in a concealed location
- Setting up your disarm method, whether that's a PIN code, a key tag or your phone, depending on the system
- Testing that the vehicle won't start or drive until it's disarmed, and that everything else works as before
- A demonstration of day-to-day use, and what to do when the vehicle goes in for service
Why it takes four hours
An immobilizer is only as good as its hiding place. The thieves who target protected vehicles know where installers usually put them, so most of the time goes into placing the module and its connections where they aren't easy to find, and making the wiring look like it came from the factory.
The rest is testing: confirming the vehicle can't be started or driven while armed, and that nothing else on the vehicle has been affected.
Insurance
If your insurer requires an approved anti-theft device, check which systems they accept before you choose. IGLA is approved by CAA, TD and Co-operators, and StarLine is recognised by CAA and Co-operators.
Which install do I need?
Want an alarm as well, with a siren, shock sensor and door, hood and trunk detection? That's AL-Install, or ALS-Install with remote start. Taking an old immobilizer out is IMMO-Removal. Browse anti-theft systems.
Bringing your own system?
Contact us before you book. Whether we can fit a system you bought elsewhere depends on the system and your vehicle, so we decide case by case. We can't diagnose faults in hardware we didn't supply without a separate troubleshooting charge.
Booking
Add this to your order and we'll contact you after checkout to arrange a time. You don't need to call ahead. If you'd rather book first, use our booking page to request a time at our Markham shop or at your home or work in the GTA.
One thing worth knowing
Every vehicle is different. Depending on make, model and year, some installations need additional parts — relays, diodes, resistors or a vehicle-specific interface — which are charged separately if required. We'll always tell you before doing the work, not after.
