The Viofo BP60 runs your dash cam in parking mode from its own battery, so the battery that starts your car is never touched. It charges while you drive and takes over when you park — and it's compact enough to disappear into a glove box.

What you actually get

Viofo rates the BP60 at 20 hours on a 3W draw. Measured on the basis we use across our whole range — 1.7W for a single camera, 3.2W for front-and-rear — that works out to roughly 38 hours single-channel or 20 hours front-and-rear.

Every brand quotes runtime at a draw of its own choosing, which is why the numbers on competing boxes can't be compared directly. We normalise ours so they can be. Three-channel cameras draw more again, and cold weather reduces every figure.

Why a battery pack instead of hardwiring

A hardwired dash cam in parking mode draws from your car battery and has to switch off at a set voltage to protect it. On a car that sits for days, or in cold weather when the battery is already weaker, that cut-off arrives early. A battery pack sidesteps the problem: the camera runs from the BP60, and your car starts every time.

No hardwire kit needed

The BP60 comes with its own hardwire and dash cam cables, including the ACC signal that tells your camera when the engine is off. You don't need an HK4, HK6 or HK6-F alongside it — and a hardwire kit should never be connected to the BP60's output.

BP60 or BP100?

The BP60 suits most one- and two-channel setups and fits easily in a glove box. If you run three or four channels, or the car sits for long stretches, the BP100 gives about 50% more runtime and can be expanded with the EP100.
