How KYCS Locate works

It doesn't stop a theft. It's there to help find the vehicle afterwards, wherever it ends up.

Hidden, with no wiring

It runs on its own battery, so nothing connects to your vehicle's wiring. KYCS says it's virtually undetectable by radio frequency scanners.

Checks in once a day

It reports its location once a day and works in 190 countries. If the vehicle is stolen, KYCS's recovery team can set it to track the vehicle.

Reports from a shipping container

It still pings from inside a sealed shipping container. KYCS also gives port authorities and police a range finder to pinpoint the exact container a KYCS-equipped vehicle is in.

No monthly fees

Up to 5 years of service and a 7-year battery life, with no monthly fees.

An immobilizer can't stop a vehicle being towed or loaded onto a truck. KYCS Locate can't stop it being driven away. Together, the thief has to beat both. Ask us about doing them in the same visit.

How does it find a stolen vehicle?

It's a hidden, self-powered tracker that reports its location once a day. If your vehicle is stolen, KYCS's recovery team can set it to track the vehicle. KYCS can also run a theft recovery through its partnership with Crime Stoppers.

Is it live GPS tracking?

Will it work if my vehicle is shipped overseas?

KYCS says it works in 190 countries and can ping from inside a sealed shipping container. KYCS also gives port authorities and police a range finder to pinpoint the specific container.

Does it stop my vehicle being stolen?

No. It helps get the vehicle back afterwards. To stop it being driven away, add an immobilizer: the engine won't start until you enter your PIN, or your tag or phone is in the car. See our anti-theft systems.

Does it connect to my vehicle's wiring?

No. It's self-powered, so nothing is connected to your vehicle's wiring. Installation takes about 30 minutes, including registration, at our Markham shop by appointment.

Are there monthly fees?

Will it help with my insurance?

KYCS Locate is insurance approved, but every insurer sets its own rules, and some name a specific product in their letter. Check with your broker, or text us a photo of your letter and we'll tell you what it asks for.
