Our longest-running dash cam battery, and it never touches the battery that starts your car. The P9D charges while you drive and powers your camera while you're parked, giving you nearly three days of protection on a single camera.
What you actually get
-
67.8 hours of parking mode on a single-channel camera
-
36 hours on a front-and-rear setup
- Full recharge in 70 minutes of driving on the fast setting, or 140 minutes on normal
Those two-channel figures are Energywell's own measurements, not an estimate. Most runtime numbers in this category are quoted single-channel only, which is why a front-and-rear camera so often disappoints against the box.
Read the watt-hours, not the mAh
At 12.8V and 9000mAh, the P9D holds about 115Wh of energy. That's more than packs advertising a bigger mAh number at a lower voltage, because mAh on its own tells you nothing without the voltage beside it. Watt-hours are the figure that actually predicts runtime, which is why we publish them on every battery we sell.
Why LiFePO4 matters here
This is a lithium iron phosphate pack, not standard lithium-ion. That's the right chemistry for a battery that gets discharged and recharged every single day: LiFePO4 handles daily cycling for roughly five years of that duty, and it tolerates the heat of a car sitting in a summer parking lot far better than conventional lithium.
Small enough to actually hide
At 17.0 x 9.15 x 4.75 cm, the P9D is barely more than a centimetre longer than our P7D while holding 50% more energy. It tucks under a seat, into a trunk cubby or behind a panel without eating usable space. Capacity is the number everyone advertises; where the pack physically goes is the part you live with.
Cold weather, honestly
Like every lithium pack on the market, the P9D charges only above freezing and gives shorter runtime in deep cold. Below 0°C it protects its cells by pausing charging until it warms with the vehicle interior. We'd rather tell you than have you find out in January — and mounting location makes a real difference, which is something we account for when we install.
