This is the HE-7850 heavy duty magnetic contact switch. Selectable normally open or normally closed.

Built for applications where an ordinary reed switch would not survive. Stainless steel construction, and robust enough to be driven over by a car or truck without damage, which makes it the standard choice for trailer doors, gates, equipment covers and anywhere on the ground.

The 2 inch operating gap is the other advantage. Ordinary reed switches want the magnet within a few millimetres. This one tolerates panels that don't close consistently.

Normally open means the two wires are not connected until the magnet comes close, at which point they connect. Normally closed is the reverse. This switch does either, so you don't need to decide before ordering.
