Check your radio first

Your vehicle must have SYNC 2, the 8-inch MyFord Touch screen whose home screen is split into four coloured corners (phone, navigation, entertainment and climate). It is not compatible if the buttons on the radio face are touch-sensitive instead of physical buttons. SYNC 3 cars and base radios without the 8-inch screen are not supported. See how to tell the MyFord Touch / MyLincoln Touch apart in our radio guide.

What it adds

• Wireless Apple CarPlay
• Wireless Android Auto
• Smartphone mirroring
• USB audio and video playback
• Front and rear camera inputs with dynamic parking lines

Installation

This kit does not plug in behind the radio. The radio is taken apart and a circuit board is fitted into the screen assembly, so this is an expert install. We install it at our Markham shop: CarPlay installation is $350.

Good to know

• Calls use the factory microphone and Bluetooth.
• Android Auto needs Android 11 or newer and uses the supplied microphone.
• Some of these models switched to SYNC 3 in 2016 or 2017. Only cars with the SYNC 2 8-inch screen qualify, so if you are not sure, text or call us with your VIN before ordering.
• ZZ-2 lists the Transit for 2013-2016 without saying whether the Transit Connect is included. For a Transit, text or call us before ordering.
• ZZ-2 does not list Lincoln models. If you have a Lincoln with the 8-inch MyLincoln Touch screen, text or call us before ordering.
• Covered by a 3-year ZZ-2 warranty, with tech support based in North America.
