Turning valet mode on and off

Valet mode turns off remote starting, for example while the vehicle is at a car wash or in for service. Keyless entry, lock and unlock keep working.

  1. Cycle the ignition: within 7 seconds, turn the ignition OFF and ON five times, quickly. The parking lights flash once.
  2. Watch the parking lights: they flash twice, pause for about 1.5 seconds, then flash once if valet mode is now ON, or twice if it is now OFF.
  3. Finish: turn the ignition OFF.

To exit valet mode: repeat the steps above, then start the vehicle and let it run for 15 seconds.

Resetting the CMBMXA0 module

Follow these steps exactly. Skipping a step can set a diagnostic trouble code or a check engine message.

  1. Unplug: disconnect every connector from the module except the black 20-pin connector, then disconnect the black 20-pin connector.
  2. Hold the button: press and hold the module's programming button while you plug the black 20-pin connector back in.
  3. Release: when LED 1 flashes red, let go of the button. LED 1 stays red for 2 seconds, and the reset is complete.
  4. Reconnect and reprogram: plug all the connectors back in, then repeat the programming procedure from your vehicle's install guide.
Which harness does your vehicle need?

The CMBMXA0 needs one vehicle-specific T-harness, which comes with its expansion pack. These harnesses only work with the CMBMXA0.

  • BMW and MINI: ADS-THR-BM1 with XP-BM1.
  • Mercedes-Benz: ADS-THR-BZ1, BZ2, BZ3 or BZ4, each with its matching XP expansion pack. Which one depends on your model and year.
