What you actually get

Thinkware rates the BAB-50 at 20 hours of parking mode. Measured on the basis we use across our whole range — 1.7W for a single camera, 3.2W for front-and-rear — that works out to roughly 34 hours single-channel or 18 hours front-and-rear.

Every brand quotes runtime at a draw of its own choosing, which is why the numbers on competing boxes can't be compared directly. We normalise ours so they can be.

Why LiFePO4 matters here

This is a lithium iron phosphate pack, not standard lithium-ion. That's the right chemistry for a battery that gets discharged and recharged every single day: LiFePO4 handles daily cycling far better than conventional lithium, and it tolerates the heat of a car sitting in a summer parking lot. You get the same chemistry here as in the larger packs — just less of it.

Who it suits

This is the right pack if your vehicle sits overnight and you drive most days, and you're running a single front camera. It covers a night in the driveway or a workday in the lot comfortably. If you run front-and-rear, 18 hours won't cover a full day — look at a larger pack instead, and we'd rather tell you now than have you find out later.

Cold weather, honestly
