Your factory screen

    Showing: a typical dash

Year ranges are a guide: factory systems can change mid-year and differ by trim. We confirm the part fits your vehicle before we ship it or book your install. Installation is one price for either route.

    Radio guides

Which factory radio do you have?

The same model can leave the factory with two or three different radios, and each one takes its own CarPlay kit. Our guides show you how to tell them apart, then the kits that fit yours.

No kit for your car? CarPlay for almost any vehicle

Nothing made for your car, or no screen at all? A dash-mounted screen brings its own CarPlay and Android Auto. Already have wired CarPlay? A plug-in adapter makes it wireless.

    Want a whole new radio?

Replace the factory radio with a touchscreen car stereo that has CarPlay and Android Auto built in. We match the dash kit and wiring to your car, and Dash Studio shows which stereos suit your dash.

Interface, screen upgrade or universal screen?

All three add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and your factory radio, speakers and amplifier stay. The difference is the screen you look at.

A small module connects behind your factory screen or radio. CarPlay and Android Auto show up on the screen you already have, and you switch back to the factory menu whenever you like.

A 12.3-inch touchscreen replaces the factory display, built for your dash. You get a wider screen with maps and music side by side. Pick your vehicle above to see if one is made for it.

    Straight answer

Why do two interfaces for the same car cost different amounts?

When more than one interface fits your vehicle, they all do the same job: CarPlay and Android Auto on your factory screen. What changes is the brand and the price.

ZZ-2 is the best-known name in factory-screen CarPlay and the widest range we carry. GROM Audio VLine kits cover many Honda, Acura, Toyota, Lexus, GM, Chrysler and Nissan models. LDS is the range we pick ourselves, and it's usually the lowest price. If the lower-priced kit suits your car, we'll tell you.

Whichever you choose, we install it and our installation has a lifetime warranty.

    Our advice

    Have us install it

An interface connects behind the factory screen or radio, and a screen upgrade replaces the display, so both mean taking the dash apart carefully and putting it back without rattles. We install it, set it up with your phone and test every function with you before you leave.

Bought your kit somewhere else? Ask us before you book; we decide case by case.

    CarPlay and Android Auto questions

Can I add CarPlay to my factory screen?

On most vehicles with a factory screen, yes. It depends on the factory system your vehicle has, not only the model, because the same model can come with different screens. Pick your vehicle in the dash simulator to see what fits. Not sure which factory radio you have? Our factory radio guides show you how to tell. Or text us your VIN and we'll check.

What's the difference between an interface and a screen upgrade?

An interface keeps your factory screen and puts CarPlay and Android Auto on it. A screen upgrade replaces the factory display with a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Your factory radio and sound system stay with both. Screen upgrades are made for specific vehicles, and the dash simulator shows whether there's one for yours.

My car isn't listed. Can I still get CarPlay?

Yes. A dash-mounted screen like the Steelmate L07 has its own wireless CarPlay and Android Auto and works in almost any vehicle, including ones with no screen. You can also replace the factory radio with a car stereo that has CarPlay built in. New interfaces come out often, so text us your VIN and we'll check.

    Is it wireless?

Almost every interface and screen we sell connects to your phone wirelessly for both CarPlay and Android Auto. If a kit is wired, its listing says so.

Do my factory controls still work?

On most vehicles, yes: you can use the factory knob, touchpad or touchscreen, and your steering wheel buttons, with CarPlay and Android Auto. A few systems don't support every control, and where that's the case the listing title says so.

Will I lose my radio, backup camera or sound system?

No. Your factory radio, speakers and amplifier stay with either route. Factory cameras keep working with most kits, but not all of them: some Toyota interfaces, for example, don't work with the 360-degree camera, and those listings say so.

Why do two interfaces for my car cost different amounts?

They do the same job; the brand and price are what change. ZZ-2 is the best-known name, GROM Audio covers many Japanese and North American vehicles, and LDS is the range we pick ourselves, usually at the lowest price. We'll tell you if the lower-priced kit suits your car.

How much is installation, and how do I book it?

$350 for an interface or a screen upgrade, and $250 for the Steelmate L07 with its backup camera, at our shop in Markham, with a lifetime warranty on our installation. Add the kit with installation and we'll contact you after checkout to book a time, usually within a day or two. You can drop the car off or wait in our lounge. Bought your kit somewhere else? Ask us before you book.

    Can I install it myself?

If you're comfortable taking dash trim apart, yes. Each kit comes with the maker's instructions. Some kits plug in, and some need more work, which the listing will mention. If you'd rather we did it, the installed price is on every listing.

Will it affect my vehicle's warranty?

We make every connection to factory standards and can document what was added. A manufacturer generally can't void your whole warranty over an aftermarket accessory; they'd need to show it caused the specific problem. If your vehicle is under warranty and you're concerned, ask us before you book.

Not sure which factory system you have?

Text us a photo of your screen and the controls around it, or your VIN. We'll tell you what fits and give you the installed price.
