Common questions

Does the DCX replace the DC3?

Yes. Compustar has discontinued the FT-DC3-HC and FT-DC3-LC, and the DCX replaces them. It starts the same way, with 3x lock on your factory fob, and takes the same remote kits, DroneMobile and FT-ALARMIT add-ons.

HC or LC: which one do I need?

If there's a T-harness for your vehicle, the FT-DCX-LC plus the T-harness is the simplest install. If it's being wired in by hand, the FT-DCX-HC comes with the wiring harnesses. Not sure? Text us your year, make and model.

Will it work on my vehicle?

The DCX covers over 9,000 vehicles from 1988 to 2025, automatic transmission only. Search your vehicle to see what fits, or text us and we'll check.

Do I need a new remote?

No. Press lock three times on your factory key fob and it starts. A Compustar remote kit adds range and 2-way confirmation if you want it.

Can I start it from my phone?

Yes, with a DroneMobile smartphone controller such as the DRONE X2-LTE and a DroneMobile plan. It works anywhere with cell service.

Can it be an alarm too?

Yes. Add the FT-ALARMIT kit: a siren, Compustar's DAS sensor for shock, tilt, glass break and movement, and a starter kill so the engine can't crank while it's armed. The alarm features are switched on when the module is programmed, so it's easiest to order the kit with the module. Adding it later means reprogramming the module, which we can do for you.

Does a key have to stay in the car?

On most vehicles, no. The DCX has a built-in data immobilizer bypass. A few vehicles need extra programming or a spare key. Your vehicle's page notes it, or text us and we'll check.

How long does it run?

The run time is programmable up to 35 minutes. Tell us what you'd like when you order.

Does it work with a manual transmission?

No. The DCX is for automatic transmission vehicles only. Ask us about remote start for a manual.

What's the warranty?

Limited lifetime on the control module, and 1 year on remotes and accessories. Our installs carry a lifetime installation warranty.
