This is the labour to fit a single front-facing dash cam — one camera on the windscreen, recording the road ahead.
What it costs and how long it takes
-
Flat rate for the labour
-
One hour for most vehicles
-
Same day — by appointment, so your vehicle goes straight onto a bay
- Backed by our lifetime installation warranty
What's included
- Mounting the camera where it sees the whole road without blocking your view, usually tucked behind the mirror
- Routing the cable along the headliner and down the A-pillar, hidden behind trim
- Hardwiring to a fused source or power management device, with parking mode configured if your camera supports it
- Setting time, date and GPS, aligning the angle, and confirming it records before you leave
- A walkthrough of the app and how to pull footage off the card
Why we hardwire it
A camera plugged into the 12-volt socket works, but the cable hangs across the dash, the socket is often dead with the ignition off, and anyone can unplug it. Hardwiring hides the cable completely, frees up the socket, and is what makes parking mode possible, with the hardwire kit's low-voltage cutoff stopping it before your battery runs low.
Which install do I need?
Adding a rear camera is DCAM2-Install, or DCAM2EXT-Install if the rear camera mounts outside the vehicle. Adding a cabin-facing camera as well is DCAM3-Install. Want parking mode to run for a day or more? Add a battery pack with DCAMBATT-Install.
Bringing your own system?
Please contact us before you book. Send us the make and model, and we'll confirm whether we can install it and what it will cost. We can't diagnose faults in hardware we didn't supply without a separate troubleshooting charge.
Booking
Add this to your order and we'll contact you after checkout to arrange a time. You don't need to call ahead. If you'd rather book first, use our booking page to request a time at our Markham shop or at your home or work in the GTA.
One thing worth knowing
Every vehicle is different. Depending on make, model and year, some installations need additional parts — relays, diodes, resistors or a vehicle-specific harness — which are charged separately if required. We'll always tell you before doing the work, not after.
