What's included
- Wrapping the immobilizer key so the remote starter can bypass the factory immobilizer
- Hiding the wrapped key inside the vehicle
- Testing that remote start works as it should
- On request, cutting the key's blade so it can't be used to turn the ignition
Why some vehicles need a key left inside
Modern vehicles won't start unless they detect a valid key. Most remote starters get around this with a bypass interface, but on some vehicles, mainly European, that isn't possible, and the only way is to leave a key inside the vehicle for the remote starter to use.
You'll need to supply the key, usually a spare. Your remote starter's product page will tell you if your vehicle needs one.
Which install do I need?
Remote starter installation itself is RS-Install. Not sure which remote starter fits your vehicle? Use our search by vehicle.
Booking
Add this to your order and we'll contact you after checkout to arrange a time. You don't need to call ahead. If you'd rather book first, use our booking page to request a time at our Markham shop or at your home or work in the GTA.
One thing worth knowing
Every vehicle is different. Depending on make, model and year, some installations need additional parts — relays, diodes, resistors or a vehicle-specific interface — which are charged separately if required. We'll always tell you before doing the work, not after.
