The HID (High Intensity Discharge) Lighting system is comprised of a micro-discharge bulb and a high voltage DC electric ballast. Because the system operates on such a high voltage there are fewer losses and more energy is turned into light. Four times as much energy is turned into light as with a conventional halogen bulb - twice as much light energy at half the power consumption. This places less strain on the electrical system, saving your alternator and battery while providing better fuel economy.  The light produced by the HID system is similar to true daylight, enabling drivers to see clearly so they can concentrate better on driving. Th is particular light also reflects better from the coatings used on road signs and traffic markings.
